Something I would like to read. The art and style somewhat reminds me of Afro Samurai:

Ajinbayo Akinsiku wants the world to know Jesus Christ, just not the gentle, blue-eyed Christ of old Hollywood movies and illustrated Bibles. Mr. Akinsiku says his Son of God is “a samurai stranger who’s come to town, in silhouette,” here to shake things up in a new, much-abridged version of the Bible rooted in manga, the Japanese form of graphic novels. “We present things in a very brazen way,” said Mr. Akinsiku, who hopes to become an Anglican priest and who is the author of “The Manga Bible: From Genesis to Revelation.” “Christ is a hard guy, seeking revolution and revolt, a tough guy.”

Just came across a brilliant collection of illustrations by an artist, depicting superheros and their normal alter egos. Pretty damn good work, I’ll say. Here’s what the artist had to say about Superman:

I feel that a mixture of Warren Ellis Clark Kent and Cris Reeve’s portrayal of him in the Superman films to be the best disguise. When you mix that up you get a clumsy, head sunked between the shoulders, Bowlegged, slightly stuttering, might of been a nerd in highschool, cowardly Clark. I not only see the confident exterior when he puts on the red, blue and yellow tights but sort of a exhale. The chance for him to breath and be himself. To me Superman is truly who he is.

Now this is just one of the most incredible comic strips I have ever seen. Awe-inspiring, zen-ish, surreal and just flat out cool. Be sure to read the whole thing because you’ll become an enlightened Buddha after that.

This is really cute. The famous scene from Stephen King’s The Shining, re-imagined and done Mario Bros style.

I’ve only recently discovered award winning cartoonist/illustrator Tomer Hanuka’s work and I really love his images and lines. They really remind me Francis Bacon’s art and I’m going have to check out Bipolar, his experimental comic book series which seems totally rad.
